About CounterRent

CounterRent helps renters answer a lease renewal increase with evidence. It compares what your landlord is asking with what comparable homes nearby are listed for, and turns that into a number and a message you can send.

Why it exists

A renewal notice usually arrives as a single figure and a deadline. The landlord or property manager has pricing tools and a view of the whole market. The renter has a spreadsheet, a few listing sites and a sense that the number is too high. CounterRent is built to close part of that gap: to show you what the market around your unit actually looks like, and to help you ask for a specific, defensible number.

How we work

  • We check before we charge. The market check is free. If there are not enough reliable comparable rentals near you, we tell you and do not offer the paid unlock.
  • Numbers come from data, not from a language model. Every figure is calculated by the application from your inputs and listing data. AI is used to read documents and draft messages from those figures.
  • You stay in control. CounterRent never contacts your landlord. You decide what to send and whether to send it.
  • No guarantees and no legal advice. Negotiation depends on your landlord. CounterRent is not a law firm and does not tell you whether an increase is lawful.
  • One simple price. $49 once for a renewal, however many rounds it takes. No subscription.
